■ What is Sustainable x Apparel? / サステナブル×アパレルとは？

It is a challenge to the structure and system of apparel itself.
K9's T-shirts are not only about the product, but also about the structure (story) of the product itself, which we enjoy creating together until it reaches customers' hands.

　In the U.S. and Europe, companies that do not engage in sustainability are being shunned. We are now entering an era in which we will not be able to survive without sustainability as well as conventional capitalism.

　In the apparel industry, there is a contradictory relationship between launching new products and sustainability, and the problem this causes is directly related to the lack of choice in how to buy clothes. In other words, consumers are forced to have only two polarized visions of the future: high brand or fast fashion.

So is there no middle option? If these clothes can trigger such a discussion, I think they can contribute to the state of sustainable x apparel.

　And I believe that art is the savior that can play such a role.

　In addition, the serious problem brought about by the above polarization is that someone has to lose money. This will lead to a future where we cannot scale our brands.

　Therefore, I believe that sticking to made-to-order production while making good use of the IP (intellectual property rights) of art will lead to a future where there is no excess inventory and it is eco-friendly, and at the same time, it is possible to scale the brand and build a win-win relationship for everyone. This is the future. I wanted to make such a T-shirt for it.

　アパレル業界の構造や、エコシステムへの挑戦と言えます。K9のTシャツは、商品だけでなく、手に届くまでの物語（ストーリー）自体を一緒に作り上げて楽しむTシャツです。

　欧米では、サステナビリティに取り組まない企業は今後淘汰されていくと言われています。これまでは従来の資本主義原理に従ってビジネスとして成り立っていた業界も、サステナビリティ抜きには立ち行かない時代がやってきます。

　アパレル業界では、新商品を出すこととサステナブルがそもそも相反関係にあることが多く、これが引き起こす問題点は、服の買い方に対する選択肢の少なさに直結しています。つまり、ハイブランドかファストファッションかの２極化された未来のみが、消費者に提示されてしまうということです。

　では、真ん中の選択肢はないのでしょうか？このTシャツがそのような議論を生むきっかけになれば、サステナブル×アパレルのあり方を一歩前進させることになるのではないか、そのような役割を果たす救世主こそがアートではないか、と私は考えています。

　上記の２極化がもたらす深刻な問題の一つは、誰かが損をしなくてはいけないという点です。また、ブランドをスケールできない、という未来に繋がりかねない点も無視できません。そこで、アートというIP(知的財産権)を上手に使うことで受注生産にこだわり、余剰な在庫をもたずエコであると同時にブランドをスケールさせることで、作り手・売り手・買い手といったアパレルに関わる全ての人と地球環境にWIN-WINな関係を構築することが可能な未来を描きたいと考え、このTシャツを作りました。

　誰かの犠牲の上で誰かが笑うのではなく、誰もが幸せに服を楽しめる未来へ世界を前進させたい。そのような世界観を、このTシャツとともにお楽しみください。
